Parental Placement Adoptions involve locating a birth mother, who wishes to place her child with you for adoption. While this may seem like an impossible task, many families who have completed their home studies with Adoption Resources of Jewish Family Service have done so very successfully. In order to meet potential birth parents, it is typical for families to aggressively market themselves to friends, family, and through advertising. Your social worker can give you many creative ideas about how to do this and ease your fears about what you should do, when you receive the phone call.

Parental Placement Adoptions require that you exchange identifying information with your birth family, including a detailed medical history. This is typically done in the presence of your adoption social worker, who will also assist both parties in determining what kind of contact each would like at the hospital and in the future. While continued contact sometimes worries adoptive parents, your child can benefit from knowing that their birth parents continued to care about them, even after placement. The amount and type of contact varies widely for adoptive families. Please feel free to discuss your concerns with your adoption social worker.
